It must suck to wake up in the morning and want to wake up with a cup of coffee, only to find that your coffee maker is broken! But that's okay, and there are many ways to make coffee even without a coffee maker. Here are a few ways to do just that.

Ingredients

Make a cup of coffee (about 250 ml)

  • One tablespoon to two tablespoons (about 15 to 30 ml) of ground coffee, or one small tablespoon to two small tablespoons (5 to 10 ml) of instant coffee powder.
  • 180 ml to 250 ml of boiling water.

You Will Need To Prepare:

  • A large number of cups
  • Fine thread or twine
  • Small boiling pot
  • French pressed strainer
  • Wooden chopsticks
  • Mug

Brewing Coffee In A Pot

1. Put the coffee powder and water together in a small boiling pot and stir slightly to mix them more thoroughly.

  • For each cup (250 ml) of coffee, add about 1 to 2 tablespoons (15 to 30 ml).

2. Heat to boiling. Place the pot on the stove over medium or high heat until it comes to a boil.

  • When the water comes to a boil, stir occasionally.

3. Let the water boil for 2 minutes. When the water comes to a full boil, start timing and let the water boil for a full two minutes without covering the pot and remove the pot directly from the stove.

  • The coffee powder should settle to the bottom of the pot when you turn off the heat.

4. Pour the coffee into the cup. Pour slowly so that the coffee powder stays at the bottom of the pot, and there is no need to filter it.

  • Even so, if you have a filter, you can use a filter strainer so that you can filter out all the coffee powder.

To Brew Coffee Using A French Press

1. Boil water. Consider using an appliance such as a kettle, a boiling pot, a microwave oven, or an electric pot.

  • A kettle is best, and a boiling pot is also fine. Pour enough water as you need into the kettle or boiling pot, place it on a heat source, and heat it over medium or high heat until the water starts to boil.
  • When using a microwave oven, use a safety cup to hold the water and insert a wooden chopstick or other non-metallic utensils into the cup to prevent overheating. When heating, heat every two minutes until the water reaches the required temperature.
  • You can use an electric kettle to boil water. This simply involves pouring water into the kettle, turning on the power, and setting it to medium or high heat.

2. Put the coffee powder into the French press pot. Add the ground coffee to the French press pot according to the standard of one tablespoon (15 ml) of ground coffee for every 125 ml of water.

  • Coffee lovers may use freshly ground coffee powder, but you can also use finished coffee powder.

3. Pour the water into the French press pot. Pour the water directly over the ground coffee in the French press pot, making sure all the ground coffee is dissolved in the water.

  • When pouring the water, adjust the angle appropriately to ensure that all of the coffee powder is evenly dissolved.
  • When pouring the water, you should pay attention to the "bloom" that forms on the surface of the coffee liquid.
  • Stir the liquid with chopsticks to break up the "blobs".

4. Brew. Put the filter on top of the French press and let the coffee steep for a while.

  • If you are using a small French press, 2 to 3 minutes of steeping should be enough.
  • For a slightly larger French press, it will take a full 4 minutes.

5. Press down the strainer. Press the button at the top of the pitcher.

  • Press the filter down smoothly and evenly. If the filter is bent, the coffee powder will seep into the top of the press pot.

6. Pour the coffee into the cup. Pour the coffee directly from the press pot into the coffee.

  • Press down on the lid to prevent any coffee liquid from spilling out while pouring.

Brewing With Instant Coffee

1. Boil water. If you don't have a coffee maker, you can boil water in appliances such as a kettle, boiling pot, electric kettle, or microwave oven.

  • When boiling water in a kettle or cooking pot, pour enough water into the kettle or cooking pot as you need and place it on the stove. Reduce the heat to medium or high and remove the kettle or cooking pot when the water begins to boil.
  • When boiling water in a microwave oven, take care to use a safety cup and insert a wooden chopstick or other non-metallic utensils into the safety cup. Heat water every minute or two until it begins to boil.
  • When boiling water in an electric kettle, pour enough water into the kettle and turn on the power. Adjust the heat to medium or high until the water is heated to a sufficient temperature.

 2. Weigh the instant coffee. Different brands of instant coffee vary slightly, but usually, 1 to 2 tsp (5 to 10 ml) of instant coffee should be added to 180 ml of water.

  • Put the instant coffee powder directly into a mug.

3. Pour the water into the mug and stir. Pour the hot water over the instant coffee powder, stir carefully to dissolve the coffee powder, and add some sugar or cream as you wish.

4. Done!

Finally, you can enjoy your coffee time!
